Summer Camps 2012

Zenon will also hold a 6 week Youth Summer Session with weekly classes (June 4 - July 15).  The class schedule is not yet finalized.

Adult and Teen Dance Sampler| July 16-20

Ages 15 through adult
9:30-1:30 pm

Perfect for students who want to broaden their dance horizons and try all that Zenon has to offer!  Classes will be taught between a Beginning 2 and Intermediate 1 level.  Each day includes 3 technique classes, rotating between Modern, Ballet, Belly Dance, Jazz, Hip Hop and more.  Previous dance experience required.

Hip Hop and Breakdance Camp | July 23 - 27

Perfect for high-energy movers- no dance experience necessary!  Learn all four areas of hip hop: popping, locking, top rocking and breaking!  Students will also learn about the history and current cultural relevance of this dance form.  Each day includes 2 different technique classes plus a choreography class.  Campers will work to create a dance that will be performed for friends and family on the last day of camp.

Make it a day-long camp and save!  Students ages 10-14 may also enroll in The Cowles Center “Journey Through Dance” from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm in the same building.  $320 for both camps saves you $25 off the combined enrollment cost!  For registration and additional information please call The Cowles Center at (612) 465-0220.

Interdisciplinary Camp | July 30 - Aug 3

Eclectic Edge Adult Jazz Intensive|August 6-10

Zenon will be co-sponsoring a Jazz Intensive summer workshop with a track for professional and pre-professional dancers and a track for dance educato

Come study jazz dance technique, style, history, African, Jazz for Musical Theater, Live Jazz for Dance Class, Yoga for Dancers, Dance Educators Forum and Hip Hop with our fabulous faculty: Zoe Sealy, Karis Sloss, Erinn Liebhard, Whitney McClusky, Kerry Casserly, Bruce Wintervold, Allison Doughty-Marqueson, Amy Sackett, Diane Aldis and Karla Grotting.

Culture Camp | August 13-17

9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Explore an array of arts with one day at each cultural organization: Children’s Theatre Company, Highpoint Center for Printmaking, In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre, Minnesota Center for Book Arts and Zenon Dance School. Campers will perform and display their art at 2:45 each day for family and friends.

Ages 10-11: Once Upon a Forest

Save $25 off Culture Camp enrollment when you also enroll in Zenon’s Interdisciplinary or Hip Hop camp!  Use your camp dates as your Zenon Membership number.

At Zenon, company members will draw on their outreach program curriculum to teach creative movement, jazz, modern, yoga and hip hop to campers, then guide them in creating a dance of their own. While at Children's Theater Company students will explore the world of storytelling in this fun Create-a-Play-Day.  At Highpoint students will dive into the world of printmaking and create a portfolio of works.  Students at Hearth of the Beast will create their own puppets and masks with a wide variety of materials and inspirations.  At Minnesota Center for Book Arts they will experience the joy of hand-made bookmaking, printmaking and paper making.
