Our Artists

Linda Z. Andrews

Founder & Artistic Director Since starting Zenon in 1983, Linda has earned accolades for developing the company’s unique modern and jazz aesthetic by commissioning repertory works from such choreographers as Bebe Miller, Dwight Rhoden, Bill T. Jones, Bill Young, Llory Wilson, Joe Goode, Stephanie Skura, David Dorfman, Doug Varone, Danny Buraczeski, Daniel Rousseve, Victoria Marks, Cathy Young, Keely Garfield, Johannes Wieland, Seán Curran and Colleen Thomas. She studied at the Martha Graham School, Alvin Ailey Dance Center, the Juilliard School, and with Alvin Nikolais, Lynn Simonson and Merce Cunningham. She holds a degree in dance and drama from Hollins College in Virginia. Linda has taught dance and creative movement since 1972, and has developed Zenon Dance School into a recognized training center for vocational and professional dancers.

Amy Behm Thomson, Company

Amy has been a full time company member of Zenon Dance Company since 2000. She has also danced with Cathy Young Dance, Robin Stiehm’s Dancing People Company, Ragamala Dance Theater, Catalyst-Dances by Emily Johnson, Cyndi Gutierrez-Garner and Arena Dances, with whom she taught and performed in St. Petersburg, Russia in July 2005.

Mary Ann Bradley, Company

Mary Ann joined Zenon in September 2005. She began her training at the Dayton Ballet School, and performed with local pre-professional companies Dance Theatre Dayton and Dayton Contemporary Dance II. She received her B.A. in Dance from Point Park University in 1997. She was a member of JAZZDANCE! by Danny Buraczeski for four years, two of which she acted as his assistant. Mary Ann is a 2001 and a 2008 recipient of the McKnight Fellowship for Dancers. She also received an honorable mention from the Star Tribune for 2005 Artist of the Year and was named City Pages Best Dancer of 2005.

Bryan Godbout, Company

Bryan is in his fourth season with Zenon. In 2006, he graduated from the University of Minnesota with a BFA in Dance and a second major in Theater Arts. He is currently performing with Shapiro and Smith and Black Label Movement and has also worked with Christopher Watson Dance Company, Becky Heist, Tina Anderson, Matt Jenson’s New and Slightly Used Dance, Metropolitan Ballet, Nautilus Music Theater, Ashland Productions, and Ethnic Dance Theater.

Tamara Ober, Company

Tamara has been with Zenon since 2002. She received a BFA in Dance and BA in Sociology from the University of Minnesota in 2001. Her dance training includes specialized study in the techniques of Ailey, Graham, Limon, Varone and Contact Improvisation. In 2007 she was a guest artist with Seán Curran’s Dance Company at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. In 2008 she collaborated in creating and touring the 5-star physical-theater show “Gypsy and the General” with 3 Sticks Theater Company. She has been touring her Fringe Festival solo “Pipa” throughout the United States and Canada, which the Montreal Gazette called “the dance gem to be discovered.”

Leslie O’Neill, Company

The Texas-born, Wisconsin-raised, University of Minnesota graduate is in her fourth season with Zenon. Leslie also performs with Black Label Movement and Maggie Bergeron and Company. Her own work has been presented in the Minnesota Fringe Festival, at Intermedia Arts, with Black Label Movement, and as part of the Works-in-Progress Series at the Red Eye Theater.

Eddie Oroyan, Company

Now in his second season with Zenon, Eddie also performs with Black Label Movement, Shapiro and Smith and Arena Dances. A 2001 graduate of the dance program at UWStevens Point, he danced with Creach/Company in New York. He was the 2006 City Pages dance artist of the year, and given honorable mention in the Star Tribune’s 2006 Artist of the Year. His duet “Brown Rocket” was nominated for a 2008 Sage Award.

Stephen Schroeder, Company

Stephen has performed with Zenon since 2001 and also danced locally with Arena Dances, Minnesota Dance Theater, TU Dance, Natilus Music Theater and Minnesota Opera.  In addition, he acts at Technical Coordinator for ZEnon and holds a BFA in Dance from the University of Colorado-Boulder.

Laura Selle Virtucio, Company

In her first season with Zenon, Laura holds a BFA in Dance from the University of Minnesota. She performs professionally with Shapiro & Smith Dance, Stuart Pimsler Dance and Theater, and Black Label Movement. Laura is a recipient of a 2007 McKnight Fellowship for Dancers and a 2007 Sage Award for Outstanding Performer. In addition to performing, she teaches in the Dance Program at the University of Minnesota and at Gustavus Adolphus College.

Gregory Waletski, Company

The Minnesota native is in his 18th season with Zenon. Greg has also performed with Wynn Fricke’s Borrowed Bones, Cathy Young Dance and Arena Dances. In 2000 he was awarded a McKnight Fellowship for Dance and was nominated for a 2008 Sage Award for outstanding performer. He is a graduate of St. Olaf College and also works as a commercial salmon fisherman, cater waiter, and DJ.
